EDS Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What is EDS ?
EDS stands for Electronic Data Submission. Unlike submitting paper forms, this system allows you to submit your monthly alcohol, cigarette and tobacco reports electronically. This allows for a more cost efficient and accurate method of filing your monthly reports Click here for an overview of EDS.
How do I sign up to use EDS ?
You may register your license/permit number online here.
I have more than one license/permit to register in EDS. Can I register them all under one username ?
No. Each registration must be tied to a unique email address/username. The contact info can all be the same, but the email address used for the username must be unique. In other words, each license/permit you have will be registered separately in EDS.
I want to register, but I am not sure if I will be doing my reports via manual entry on the web interface or using the batch upload method.
When you register, you may select your reporting method as web interface, batch upload or both. If you are unsure, select the option for both and you will receive two sets of credentials. One will be the username and password you created when registering and the other will be a credential to log on to the batch upload test server.
I am unable to register. I put my license/permit number in the appropriate field and click "search" and nothing happens.
Make certain that your pop-up blocker is off for EDS. EDS utilizes pop-up windows to allow for the selection of licenses when filling our a registration or report. If you have further complications, contact us.
How will I be notified of my account being successfully created ?
You will receive notification via email. Make sure that your email is set to allow correspondence from: eds.support@myfloridalicense.com and DoNotReply@dbpr.state.fl.us This will insure that our emails to you are not filtered into your spam folder.
What is the difference between the web version of EDS and the Batch Upload process ?
The web based reporting version of EDS involves logging in to the website and manually entering your report information and transaction data. The batch upload process involves building your own flat file based on the file specifications provided here. It is recommended for large reports.
I registered, but now realize I need to change my username and other contact information on my EDS account. How do I do this ?
Contact EDS support and make a request. The email address is eds.support@myfloridalicense.com
I cannot remember my password
Click on the “Forgot Password?” link at the log-in page. Enter your email address/user Id and click “submit”. A new auto-generated password will be emailed to you. Once you have successfully logged in, you may change your password again under the “user profile” link on your EDS homepage.
I need assistance in filling out my reports. Are there tutorials available ?
There are tutorials on our site for most report types that can walk you through a report. If you have technical questions, please contact us at EDS Support. Always include your business name, permit/license number, report type and the reporting month you are working on. If you are unsure as to what information to include in your report, please contact your local district office. A list of district offices and the counties they serve is located here.
I am an out of state alcohol supplier and I need to report my shipments to Florida wholesalers/distributors. I tried registering, but EDS asks for a 7 digit license and I do not have one.
Please contact EDS Support and we will assist in creating a “reporting number” for you. You can email support here.
I am an out of state winery and sell directly to consumers in Florida. Can I use EDS to report my monthly shipments ?
In this case, EDS is for reporting shipments to wholesaler/distributors only. EDS cannot be used for this report type. You must continue to use the paper forms to report your shipments and remit applicable excise tax. Those forms are available for download here.
I am working on a report and cannot find a license using the lookup feature in EDS ?
First, try shortening your search criteria if you’re looking up by name. This will return more results to select from.
It is possible the license you are looking for could be operating under a different “doing business as” name or, if they’re an out of state alcohol or tobacco products supplier, they may need a “reporting number” created. There are other tools available for looking up license/permit numbers. Information is available for Florida licenses/permits for cigarettes, alcohol and tobacco as well as out of state suppliers by following this link.
As always, you can contact EDS Support for assistance.
