Division of Alcoholic Beverages & Tobacco

The Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco issues licenses or permits that are required for any business or person to manufacture, import, export, store, distribute or sell alcoholic beverages or products containing tobacco or nicotine. The Division conducts audits to ensure the proper collection of taxes, surcharges, and fees, and conducts inspections and investigations to ensure compliance with the laws and regulations governing the sale of alcoholic beverages and products containing tobacco or nicotine pursuant to Chapters 210, 561-565, and 567-569, Florida Statutes.

Division of Athletic Commission

The Athletic Commission licenses and regulates professional boxing, kickboxing and mixed martial arts.

Division of Certified Public Accounting

The Division is responsible for the regulation of Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) and accounting firms. The Division processes applications to sit for the CPA license, original Florida licensure applications, licensure by endorsement applications, reactivation of a delinquent or inactive CPA license, temporary permit applications, accountancy firm licensure and continuing education reporting forms.

Division of Condominiums, Timeshares, and Mobile Homes

The Division of Condominiums, Timeshares, and Mobile Homes mission is to provide consumer protection for Florida residents living in the communities we regulate through education, complaint resolution, mediation and arbitration, and developer disclosure. The Division has the power and duty to enforce and ensure compliance with the provisions of the following statutes:

Division of Drugs, Devices & Cosmetics

The Division of Drugs, Devices and Cosmetics safeguards the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of the state of Florida from injury due to the use of adulterated, contaminated, misbranded drugs, drug ingredients and cosmetics by administering the provisions of the Florida Drug and Cosmetic Act (Chapter 499, F.S.).

Division of Hotels & Restaurants

The Division of Hotels and Restaurants (H&R) licenses, inspects and regulates public lodging and food service establishments in Florida under Chapter 509, Florida Statutes (FS). The division also licenses and regulates elevators, escalators and other vertical conveyance devices under Chapter 399, FS.

Division of Professions

The Division of Professions is responsible for the licensing of over 542,000 professionals. These professions include: architects and interior designers, asbestos consultants, athlete agents, auctioneers, barbers, building code administrators and inspectors, community association managers, construction contractors, cosmetology, electrical contractors, employee leasing companies, geologists, home inspectors, landscape architects, mold assessors and remediators, pilot commissioners and veterinarians.

Division of Real Estate

The Division of Real Estate protects the public by regulation of real estate and appraisal licensees pursuant to Chapter 475, Florida Statutes. The Division is responsible for the examination, licensing and regulation of over a quarter of a million individuals, corporations, real estate schools and instructors.

The Division of Regulation is the enforcement authority for the professional boards and programs. It monitors those professions and related businesses to ensure that the laws, rules and standards set by Legislature and professional boards are followed.

Office of General Counsel

The Office of the General Counsel performs the Department’s legal functions, including hearings, depositions, arbitration and final orders. OGC staff maintains all legal documents; prepares, certifies and transmits records on appeal to appellate courts; responds to records requests, and maintains the statutorily mandated subject matter index of final orders.

The Office of Inspector General is established pursuant to Section 20.055, Florida Statutes, to provide a central point for the coordination of and responsibility for activities that promote accountability, integrity, and efficiency in government.
