Pass rates on the Fundamentals portion of the ASBOG examination

We just received this information about the ability to grandfather with the state of Louisiana:

Louisiana is implementing geological registration. There is a short period, ending December 31st, in which to obtain grandfathering eligibility, and the separate formal application period will begin next year. If anyone wishes to be grandfathered into registration in Louisiana, they must visit, follow the instructions, and submit the appropriate check, which will also cover the cost of their formal application next year. Louisiana sends their regrets with regard to the awkwardness and the timing, but given the current legal environment they are required to operate under, anyone who does not apply for grandfathering by the end of the month will be unable to ever obtain it.

Please feel free to circulate this information to any member/contact list, government organization, geological society/organization, universities or any other interested parties. If you have any questions, please email me at or call me at 225-931-6622.

Paperless Licensing, effective 04/06/2018

The Department of Business and Professional Regulation is excited to announce an advancement in how we license geologists in the State of Florida.
The Department has implemented an innovative way to expedite the licensing process for geologists and geology businesses. The Department will no longer be mailing licenses upon issuance, as licensees can now print their licenses by logging into their secure online account with the Department. This will allow new licensees to enter the work force at least 7 to 10 business days early, whereas, in the past, they would have to wait for the license to arrive in the mail. In addition to new licenses, this process will allow licensees to renew online and print the license at their convenience, as well as print duplicate licenses as needed without paying a fee.

Streamlined Applications Released

In an effort to assist applicants through the licensure process and to reduce the number of deficient applications, the Department of Business and Professional Regulation and the Board of Professional Geologists conducted a complete review and revision of all applications. The updated applications were launched August 21, 2012.
