The professions and businesses regulated by the Department of Business and Professional Regulation and the disciplinary action that may be taken is administrative in nature, e.g., reprimand, fine, restriction of practice, remedial education, administrative cost, probation, license suspension or license revocation. The Department cannot represent you in civil matters to recover fees paid or seek remedies for injuries. You may wish to consult a private attorney regarding these matters.

Florida Public Records Law
Under Florida law, all communications received by this Department are public record unless a specific exemption applies in statute. Please refer to Chapters 455 and 119, Florida Statutes for applicable exemptions.
False Official Statements
Section 837.06, Florida Statutes, states that whoever knowingly makes a false statement in writing with the intent to mislead a public servant in the performance of his or her official duty shall be guilty of a misdemeanor of the second degree.
Examples of issues which may not be within the authority of the department include:
• Some fee and price disputes • Disagreements over contract terms • Some quality of workmanship issues • Some consumer problems with hotels and restaurants • Maintenance of condominium common areas.
